Greetings!
You can call me Shiloh Sylvanian. I am a 27 year old stay at home wife from the east coast of the US. My husband also collects critters with me! We have a cuddly little dog and 2 lovely kitties. Collecting toys has been really cathartic for me and brings me lots of joy. If I were a Sylvanian, I'd be a Marshmallow Mouse, which is why I chose one to be the star of this blog.
I've always adored dollhouses, dolls, anthropomorphic animals, miniatures, and toys in general. I loved to take photos of my toys in little scenes, and carried that passion with me into adulthood. My mother was part of a doll forum/community for Hitty and made clothes and cloth dolls for trades/sell. I absolutely loved when she'd show me posts about people's created towns and showed off their dollhouses/dolls. So I felt so inspired when I learned there was a community like that for Sylvanians!
I'm not sure how I wasn't aware of Calico Critters/Sylvanians as a kid, but I discovered my passion for them in the toy aisle of Toys-R-Us (RIP) back in 2016 or 2017. In 2018, I got my first set as a present from my husband after a discussion about how nostalgia and embracing childhood excitement/fun is cathartic for mental health. I've been hooked (some might say obsessed) ever since!
My favorite photos to take are ones with my critters interacting with nature. I collect some other toys as well (not nearly as obsessively as Sylvanians) and like to try to incorporate them into my critters' lives and photos too. So you may see some non-Sylvanian items in my photos, but I will make sure to ID them for you! I definitely have a meticulous collector brain and love to ID and ramble about various critter trivia, so I may feature some informational posts as well, talking about discontinued families or neat details I discover. I also want to start crafting more and learning how to sew clothes and create miniatures foods, so expect some posts about that too!
